In developing welding and brazing services for the aerospace, military, and defense industries, at Woolf Aircraft Products, Inc., we put a focus on precision and versatility.

We offer a wide variety of welding services including: gas tungsten, gas metal, shielded metal, and plasma arc welding, as well as resistance spot welding. Torch brazing is performed in-house while both standard and vacuum brazing are available through an outside partner. For high-volume weldments, 6-axis robotic MIG welding and 2-axis robotic TIG welding are available. Automating the welding process greatly increases efficiency in high volume applications. In-house fixturing ensures precision welds that are very consistent between parts.

Specialized welding capabilities include autogenous orbital welding and wire fed orbital welding for the fabrication of high quality tube weldments. While orbital welding provides very clean and precise welds with high mechanical strength, improperly prepared tube ends can cause premature failure of the weld. We have the proper equipment to trim and face tube ends in preparation for welding.

Although an ideal metal in terms of weight to strength ratio, titanium is notoriously difficult to weld. Purge chambers can be used to weld titanium tubing and assemblies. The use of a purge chamber ensures that the entire surface is blanketed with inert gas, preventing any contamination from the atmosphere that could damage the integrity of the weld. Oxygen sensors are used to ensure that the welding surface is properly shielded throughout the welding process.

Various non-destructive testing and inspection can be performed in-house and by third party certified weld inspectors, according to applicable industry standards. Hydrostatic testing up to 10,000 lbs. can also be performed. For more information about our welding and brazing capabilities, see the table below, or contact us directly.
